Green Issues

At The Mill House we are very interested in our environmental carbon footprint.

Fintry is heading for the title of the first carbon neutral village in the country, after some dedicated villagers struck a deal with a wind farm developer, and built an extra turbine as part of a planned wind farm nearby on the Fintry Hills.

The Mill House has solar panels on the roof to help heat the hot water.  On a hot summer’s day much of the water for washing up and home use is heated by solar energy.

We now also have a ground source heat pump providing all our heating and any hot water not pre-heated by the solar panels.

Our electricity supplier is one which provides  electricity generated only from renewable sources.

When supply meets demand all our eggs are from our own truly free range hens, which live in our orchard, but which are often also allowed to range free in our large garden and paddock as well.
